Backlash Trails Timi of Ede, Wife's Viral 10th Wedding Anniversary Photos


Viral photos of the 10th wedding anniversary of Oba Muniru Adesola Lawal (Laminisa I), the Timi of Ede and his wife, Aishat Omowunmi Lawal, have sparked public backlash and debate on social media.

Olori Aishat, on her Facebook page, shared some lovely family photos to mark the iconic celebration, accompanied with a heart melting message.

She wrote: "Happy wedding anniversary to us ishola mi! @timiofede1. We are grateful to Allah for how far he has brought us. We have gone through the sweet and the not so sweet, yet, here we are today. Ten years and still counting in sha Allah rahaman. Love you forever."

However, the post has generated mix reactions among social media users. While some see no big deal in sharing photo the monarch in such postures, others berated it, describing it as a slap on the traditional institution.

Ayelabola Lukman Tunde Lawal, commenting on a Facebook post concerning the viral photos, wrote: "Nothing bad in this picture!!! Baba celebrated his family and congratulations to the family."

Another commenter who agreed with Lawal's view, Saheed Adetunbi Ige, said: "This is much better than Kabiyesis being sighted at Nightclubs."

Omobolanle Adebanjo said, "So because he is a king, his wife doesn't deserve his attention and love?"

Condemning the post, Amitolu Shittu, however, said that, "This is not good for a respected traditional institution. The present occupier of Timi of Ede Land got this wrong because Timi is not an English or European. Timi Olofaina is a sacred stool the institution has a very strong historical with Yoruba our race."

Tunmise Reformer said, "There are some pictures you dare not put on social media. What photoshoot will cause, ehn? Ok ooo."
