Like the popular saying that a golden fish has no hiding place, Chief Rotimi Obeisun has been entrusted with new responsibilities. The Ibadan-based industrialist and Chairman of Sunshine Oil and Chemical Development Company Limited recently emerged as the National President of the Ijebu-Jesa Social Club (IJSC).
IJSC is a leading socioeconomic development organization in Ijebu-Jesa, the headquarters of Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.
Obeisun's emergence was as result of his victorious outing at an election of the National Executive Committee/Annual General Meeting of the IJSC, hosted by the Lagos Branch of the organization on Saturday, February 15, 2025. It was exclusively gathered that Obeisun, who doubles as the founder of Timsed Broadcasting Service (Timsed International Television and Timsed Radio 94.1FM), Ijebu-Jesa, was unanimously elected.
Others who were also elected to steer the affairs of IJSC with Obeisun included a veteran journalist, Mr. Dele Ogunyemi as General Secretary; an IT expert Mr. Niyi Daranijo as Treasurer; educationist Mr. Olutayo Abogan as Publicity Secretary, and a Lagos-based investment advisor Mr. Yinka Agbejimi, who was returned as Welfare Officer.
Of course, there is no doubt that Obeisun will bring to bear on the new position his distinct experience as an industrialist and a business management expert. The evidence is boldly written all over his businesses as regards achievements he has recorded over the years. He has done excellently well with all the businesses under his Rotimi Obeisun Investment Limited. And he's ready to repeat the same feats as National President of IJSC in other to take the organization to greater heights.
So, it wasn't surprising when Obeisun, in his inaugural speech, pledged to prioritize community development and youth employment through industrialization and agribusiness.
He emphasized the need for gainful employment for young people, stating that empowering them through Public-Private Partnerships would help curb the increasing rate of youth migration, popularly known as the “japa” syndrome.
Obeisun not only assured young graduates from his community of job opportunities but also to receive support to also become employers of labor, through cottage industries and agribusiness, rather than remaining job seekers.
He also enjoined well-meaning indigenes, friends of the community, and members of the IJSC in the diaspora—including those in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada—to actively support the new initiatives, stressing that their involvement was crucial to the organization’s growth and the overall development of Ijebu-Jesa.
Chief Rotimi Obeisun, according to his company's website, is the founder and CEO of Rotimi Obeisun Investment Limited. He is also the Chairman/CEO of over 15 other companies under the flagship of Rotimi Obeisun Investment Limited. He's a graduate of Business Management from Eastern Washington State University, Cheney, Washington, United States.
He started his career at the Nigerian Port Authority where he was involved in the clearing and forwarding of imported products. Before venturing into chemical trading in 1995, and later diversified into other key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
He has over 30 years experience of conducting business, and has formed strategic partnerships with multinational companies around the world.
