Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is set to unveil '2GEDA', Nigeria’s first social media platform.
This was disclosed in a statement issued Tuesday by Smith Emeka Eze, a co-owner of the platform.
The groundbreaking event, according to the statement, will hold on Saturday, 16th August, 2025 by 3:00pm, at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan.
2GEDA, Eze noted, is a historic step towards redefining Nigeria’s digital presence on the global stage.
According to the young tech guru, the platform is designed to serve as a digital home for Nigerians and Africans, and internet users worldwide—providing a safe, inclusive, and innovative space for communication, collaboration, and commerce.
The unveiling ceremony, to be hosted by Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Ilaji Group CEO, promises to attract high flying celebrities from different walks of life from across the geo-political zones of the country.
Top business executives and corporate titans including Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Obi Cubana, and a host of others are expected to grace the occasion.
Also expected are top government official at the Federal, state and local levels, as well as prominent traditional rulers from across the country.
Speaking ahead of the unveiling, the Ooni of Ife described '2GEDA' as "a digital revolution tailored for Nigerians, by Nigerians, and for the benefit of Africa at large."
The revered monarch added that the project is part of a broader vision to position Nigeria as a force in global technology and innovation.
During the unveiling, there will be a live demonstration of the 2GEDA web and mobile platforms. This will also follow with keynote addresses, cultural performances, and a roundtable dialogue on digital innovation and indigenous tech development.
Eze believes that with the support of Nigeria’s traditional institutions, political leaders, and business moguls, '2GEDA' is poised to become a flagship platform for the continent, inspiring digital excellence and economic empowerment across borders.
