Akolade Adekola has been appointed as the new General Manager of Vicinity FM, Ileji-Ile Ijesa, Osun State, a leading radio station with focus in music, news, and entertainment.
Popularly known as Omo Baba Overseer (O.B.O), Adekola is bringing his 22 years of experience as an independent broadcaster to bear on this new assignment.
Prior to the new role, the multi-talented broadcast journalist, who also doubles as the Corporate Communications Secretary, Association of Nigerian Broadcasters (ANBROAD), has worked with several radio stations as a freelancer, contributing his quota to the development of the industry.
Some of the radio stations he had worked with included Midland 99.0 FM, Ilorin; Orisun 89.5 FM, Ile Ife; New Dawn TV, Ibokun; Living Spring FM, Ile Awiye, Osogbo; Harmony FM, Idofian; Crown FM, Ile Ife; Yes 101.7 FM, Ibadan; Timsed 94.1FM, Ijebu-jesa; and Uniq 103.1FM, Ilesa.
At Uniq FM, Akolade initiated and anchored many interesting programs including Ale Erebe Pelu Trophy Lager Beer, Yoruba news paper review-Ojutole Ojutoko, and Gbankogbi Iroyin Kayeefi (a comic Yoruba odd news program). This is where Akolade served for good 15 year until he bows out to take the new role as GM at Vicinity FM.
Akolade, trained and nurtured by the veteran broadcaster, Alhaji Olalomi Amole, caught his broadcasting teeth at Radio Nigeria Gold FM, Ilesa, where he was discovered as a promising star.
