Late Ijesa Businesswoman Yinka Obaleye for Burial August 24


Barely days after her passing was reported by TrendscopeNews, family of the late Yeye Owa of Ijesaland, Dame Eunice Olayinka Obaleye, has announced a week-long funeral programme to celebrate her remarkable life and enduring legacy.

Dame Obaleye, who died at the age of 88, was widely revered for her grace, generosity and unwavering commitment to humanity.

Her death drew tributes from across Ijesaland and beyond, with many describing her as a woman whose influence transcended family and community.

According to the funeral programme released by the family, activities will begin on Monday, August 24, 2026, with a commendation service at Dame Olayinka Obaleye Methodist Church, 45 Abu Oki Street, Jankara, Lagos, by 12 noon.

Service of Songs will hold on Tuesday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 26, at her residence, Joy Haven, Omieran Street, Isokun, Ilesa, Osun State. While the Tuesday event is scheduled for 5 p.m., Wednesday’s gathering will commence at 4 p.m.

A Night of Tributes has been fixed for Thursday, August 27, at Kings Mega Event Centre, starting at 4 p.m., where family members, friends and associates are expected to celebrate her impactful life through goodwill messages and heartfelt memories.

Friday, August 28, will feature traditional and Christian rites. A Woro dance begins at 9 a.m., followed by the departure of her remains from the morgue at 1 p.m. 

Lying-in-state at her residence is scheduled for 2 p.m., while a Christian wake service will hold at Kings Mega Event Centre from 4 p.m.

Final burial service comes up on Saturday, August 29, at Otapete Methodist Church, Ilesa, by 10 a.m.

Interment will take place afterward at the family’s private mausoleum, while a reception for invited guests will follow at Kings Mega Event Centre.

Funeral activities will end on Sunday, August 30, with a thanksgiving service at Otapete Methodist Church, Ilesa, beginning at 10 a.m.

As earlier reported by TrendscopeNews, Dame Eunice Olayinka Obaleye, MON, KJW and JP, was one of Ijesaland’s most respected matriarchs.

She held the prestigious traditional title of Yeye Owa of Ijesaland and was celebrated for decades of service to God, community development and humanitarian causes.

Her transition has continued to attract tributes from traditional rulers, religious leaders, associates and admirers, many of whom say her legacy of grace, impact and greatness will remain a lasting inspiration for generations to come.
