One year after opening its doors to residents of Sagamu, Ogun State, Ace Mall has marked a significant milestone, with its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Prince Adeyinka Afonja, sharing beautiful pictures to celebrate the anniversary.
The anniversary marks one year of shopping, entertainment, employment and economic activity at the Ace Mall facility on Oba Erinwole Road, Sagamu.
When the branch officially opened on August 2, 2025, it became the 13th outlet in the growing Ace Mall chain.
Since then, the facility has steadily established itself as a destination for shopping, leisure and family entertainment in the city.
More than a supermarket, Ace Mall Sagamu, like other branches of the company scattered across the South-West, offers a combination of retail and lifestyle experiences.
Its facilities include a supermarket, cinema, arcade and eateries, providing residents with convenient access to shopping and entertainment under one roof.
For Afonja, the first anniversary represents much more than the passage of 12 months. It is a reflection of a business philosophy built around expansion, job creation, community development and the belief that successful businesses should contribute meaningfully to the communities where they operate.
A retired banker and accomplished entrepreneur, Afonja has carved a distinctive niche for himself in Nigeria’s retail industry.
Under his leadership, Ace Mall has grown from its early beginnings in Ibadan into one of the South-West’s notable retail and lifestyle brands.
His business journey has been defined by an ability to identify opportunities, take calculated risks and build ventures that create value for consumers and communities.
Ace Mall’s expansion across cities in the South-West has also created employment opportunities for young Nigerians while opening doors for suppliers, artisans, service providers and other small businesses that form part of the retail ecosystem.
That commitment to human capital development is one of the qualities that has distinguished Afonja’s entrepreneurial journey.
Beyond business, he has also earned recognition for his philanthropic and educational interventions.
Afonja was honoured with the Foundation Fellowship Award by Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements, philanthropic contributions and commitment to education and community development.
His support for the institution has included a ₦10 million commitment towards development projects, including a solar power project and refurbishment of its health centre facilities.
Such interventions have reinforced his reputation as an entrepreneur who believes that wealth creation should go hand in hand with social responsibility.
Afonja has equally lent his support to initiatives focused on humanity, youth development and community advancement, further extending his influence beyond the corporate world.
His latest anniversary pictures from Sagamu capture the mood of a businessman celebrating not only a successful investment but also the people and community that have made the journey worthwhile.
For Afonja, it is another chapter in a remarkable story that has taken him from banking to entrepreneurship, from retail innovation to job creation and from business success to philanthropy.
