The federal government has donated N30 million to the family of the late Taiwo Akinkunmi, the man famous for designing the Nigerian flag -who passed away on August 30, 2023, at the age of 87.
Recall the Federal Government's delegation led by the Minister of information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on September 4, 2023, paid a condolence visit to the family of Akinkunmi in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, during which the minister said President Tinubu promised President Tinubu pledged to give the late Akinkunmi a national burial and financial support to the family.
However, Olukemi Afolayan, the National Orientation Agency's (NOA) director for Oyo state, and Lanre Issa-Onilu, the agency's director-general, presented Akinkunmi's family in Ibadan with the N30 million check on behalf of the federal government on Thursday.
The gesture, according to Issa-Onilu, was made to help Akinkunmi's family and show gratitude for his service to the nation. President Tinubu was thanked for the act by one of the departed sons, Akinwunmi Akinkunmi.
