"Makinde's victory, Bola Ige's failure....."(1983-2023) was the piece I wrote, immediately after the 2023 gubernatorial elections, in which I stated amongst others;
"But the one week postponement of the gubernatorial election, gave him, (Makinde), the Special Grace and ample opportunities to run around, and make contacts for necessary interventions...."
The crises in the People's Democratic Party, (PDP), both as the ruling and opposition party,1999-2015, and 2015-till date, respectively, reached the climax after the 2023 PDP presidential primary was won by His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, and the runner-up, former Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, refused to go along with his party's choice by not supporting Atiku's electioneering campaigns, with the formation of an opposing force...the G5...Governors group...after his subsequent failed bid to become Atiku's running mate.
Wike, thereafter, came up with one demand after the other...dictating the pace to the party, and its flag bearer.
The inability of humans to learn from history, personal, and other people's experiences...often leads to the same event repeating itself, sometime as a karmic consequence...while alive or thereafter...depending on individual different spiritual embodiment, and God's given time.
The renowned lawyer, politician, and statesman, Chief Bola Ige, former old Oyo State Governor, left the defunct Alliance for Democracy, (AD), (Despite his political dynasty/leadership opposition), to take up a ministerial appointment with the ruling PDP, under President Olusegun Obasanjo's government, (1999-2003), having lost the 1999 AD presidential primary ticket to Chief Olu Falae, at the D'Rovan's hotel, ring road, Ibadan- The rest is, today, unpalatable history ! But, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, is still waxing stronger as the Federal capital territory minister, in the ruling All Progressives party government, while still proclaiming his PDP membership!
The open invitation call, recently,..asking Wike to make up his mind in order to officially join the APC...by His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu...should be quite instructive to Minister Wike on political challenges, ahead of him, in 2027 and beyond- The political dilemma, I foresee, will eventually be the end of the beginning of Wike's duality of political purpose, game, and zigzag maneuvering, in the very nearest future.
He will, definitely, employ other political strategies, (courts inclusive), to outwit, and get hold of PDP...if the party leadership, however, fail to guide their loins, by loosing their guards, again !
In my 2023 article, earlier mentioned above, I further advised as follows-
"Hence, Governor Makinde's electoral victory was a blessing to the people of Oyo state, and a lesson to Governor Makinde on the need to be a little bit circumspect, often, not to take his immediate political family/associates for granted....."
"While, at the national level, there is the need not to always be nonconformist to party's internal rules and collective decisions/interests- no matter the divergent views of one or few- so as not to rock the boat, in order to avoid the disastrous consequences, which many innocent PDP candidates were victims of, during the last 2023 general elections".
Man know thyself...is the saying.
Our highly resourceful Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, is a well defined personality...for certain unique earthly political purposes, from the realm of divinity, vis-a-vis that of Minister Wike, whose natural endowment, to achieving life political goals, is not only combative...but quite dramatically/diametrically opposite points ...forgiving or unforgiving spirit!
Hence, for Governor Makinde, with such a divine future political service to humanity...to have joined forces with the then Governor Wike, in 2023, in his vicegerent stumbling block mission...against his political party, and a fellow being's presidential mandate... is very antithetical to the non vengeful spirit of a benevolent agent/catalyst- Lending credence to the idiom-
"When your values are tested, that's when your true worth is revealed".
The 2023 political woes to the political ambitions of many PDP members, (Senatorial and representative hopefuls), not only in Oyo State, but through out the South west, as a result of steps/decisions taken, ought to have been great lessons, (as I advised in my above 2023 article extracts), for further necessary amendments, towards 2027, by retracing steps to becoming a positive agent/catalyst of a new dynamic of change in PDP, beyond personal political ambitions, which are still being negatively oiled, outside the party's directions, structures, and organs...for political sabotage, ambitions, or total decamping for self-interests, or ethnic cleavages...against political party hegemony- Hence, as I disposed in my another article, two weeks ago, entitled- "ARE TINUBU & ATIKU...THE APC, PDP, & NIGERIAN PROBLEMS?, thus:
" In any thriving democracy, political party is an important institution for leadership recruitment process...'cos, it is a congregation and convergence of different ideals, and interest groups, (ethno-religious, socio-political, and economic classes...lower, middle, and upper, etc.). - Any extraneous, and divisive issue, like ethnicity or religion, therefore...outside the political parties...is extremely dangerous".
Unlike, defunct military rule...with ethno-religious lopsidedness...laced with biases- The decadence of the past which, unfortunately, many people are, still, allowing themselves to be manipulated and misguided by the politicians, for political self-interests/covering their political parties lapses, at all levels...thereby dangerously using ethno-religious sentiment to demystifying the political parties institutional frameworks that could enhance democracy, for future gains.
The pertinent question is...can one, therefore, build something on nothing, or on falsehood..judging by the 2023 wrong divisive ethnic narrative of fighting for southern presidency, that was sold to the PDP southern members, and masses, in other to truncate a party's internal presidential mandate to another member, and now " *The chickens have come home to roost",* and the truth has been unfolded, in another vicegerent presidential ambition!
However, the need to do the needful in PDP is not too late...in following the path of truth...by getting their acts together for the voice of reason, and human ingenuity to prevail...beyond displaying mere sentiments, permutations, and pull him down syndromes/ambitions...so that God's divine purpose could manifest, in the lives of PDP, (as a formidable opposition party), and their members future political yearnings- Instead of unrepentantly pulling down the whole house on the upcoming political hopefuls, and present political family members, which serves no collective useful purpose to PDP, Nigerian democracy, and the masses...yearning for credible oppositions, in a nation on the edge of a precipice, (politically, economically, & security wise).
By the time, everyone does the needful/right things...,better things will, naturally, fall into place for everyone and the whole country, as against the prevailing ferocious rat race, please!
