Ibadan has further strengthened its traditional leadership structure with the installation of a new set of Mogajis and Baales, a development widely regarded as a boost to grassroots governance, cultural preservation and community development across the metropolis.
The newly installed traditional title holders, drawn from several compounds, villages domicile across different local government areas of the ancient city, are expected to serve as vital links between their people, the Olubadan-in-Council and government authorities, while promoting peace, unity and progress in their respective communities.
In the Yoruba traditional system, Mogajis are the recognized heads of family compounds (Molebi), saddled with the responsibility of preserving family heritage, resolving disputes, maintaining harmony among family members, protecting ancestral properties and representing their compounds in traditional matters.

Baales, on the other hand, serve as traditional heads of villages and communities. They oversee local administration, ensure security and peaceful coexistence, mediate conflicts, mobilise residents for developmental projects and work closely with government agencies to facilitate growth at the grassroots.
