Family, close friends, and associates are currently grappling with the shock of the sudden passing of a popular grassroots politician and distinguished son of the Kwara South Senatorial District, Otunba Ganiyu Zubair, a.k.a. Otunba Ganzy.
This unfortunate incident which occured over the weekend has left a profound void in the hearts of many.
Otunba Ganzy was a former candidate for the House of Representatives under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kwara State.
Early on Saturday morning, he was at Jabi Park in Abuja, engaging in his favorite pastime of playing table tennis when tragedy struck, and he collapsed.
Despite all efforts to revive him, he was sadly confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The heartbreaking news of his passing was conveyed in a brief statement by Engr. Tunde Fadipe, the immediate past Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) for Isin Local Government Area.
“This is a personal loss. May his soul rest in peace. Otunba Ganzy, Adieu,” he wrote.
The late Otunba Ganiyu Zubair was widely recognized for his unwavering commitment to grassroots politics and his invaluable contributions to the political landscape in Kwara South.
Until his untimely demise, he served as the Chairman of the Table Tennis Club at the Jabi Recreation Park, where his vibrant spirit and dedication will be fondly remembered.
