The long-standing rivalry between human rights lawyer Barr. Pelumi Olajengbesi and incumbent lawmaker Hon. Wole Oke has intensified, with Olajengbesi publicly accusing Oke of corruption and abuse of office.
This escalation comes as Olajengbesi eyes Oke's Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Olajengbesi's allegations, detailed in a Facebook post, claim Oke, who recently defected from the PDP to the APC, has illicitly benefited proxy companies, including MC Aremo Nig. Limited, from constituency contracts.
He cites 674 instances of alleged misconduct, asserting a conflict of interest and breach of constitutional duty.
Specifically, Olajengbesi alleges Oke influenced contract awards, leading to poorly executed or uncompleted projects, and concealed his beneficial ownership of MC Aremo, which he claims is officially owned by Oke's staff, Ogunsiji Jacob Damisi and Olutoke Victor Adewale.
Olajengbesi has issued a six-hour ultimatum for Oke to apologize to the people of Oriade/Obokun or explain his connections to these companies.
Failure to comply will lead to demands for full disclosure and an accounting of how MC Aremo's current owners acquired their equity.
