President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received a delegation of traditional rulers from Oyo State led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, during a courtesy visit at the State House, Abuja.
The royal delegation featured prominent first-class monarchs from across Oyo State, including the Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, Osi Olubadan, Balogun of Ibadanland, Onigbeti of Igbeti, Alajawa of Ajawa, Olugbon of Orile-Igbon and the Aseyin of Iseyin.
Also present at the meeting were the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, Chairman of the Nigerian Revenue Service, Zach Adedeji, Presidential spokesman Sunday Dare and Mogaji Wole Arisekola, publisher of Street Journal, President of the Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON), and the Mogaji Ajenigieye, Oje, Ibadan, whose presence reflected the blend of traditional leadership and influential stakeholders at the gathering.
Information about the visit was shared by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who released photographs and details of the high-level audience at the Presidential Villa.
Although details of the closed-door discussions were not immediately disclosed, the visit underscored the longstanding relationship between the Presidency and Nigeria’s traditional institution, with royal fathers continuing to play vital roles in promoting peace, stability, grassroots development and national cohesion.
The courtesy visit further highlighted the strategic role of Oyo State’s traditional institution in national affairs, as President Tinubu continues consultations with critical stakeholders across the country in pursuit of his administration’s governance and development agenda.
