2027: Alli Courts Ajimobi Aides, Moves to Rebuild Oyo APC Unity

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Oyo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has begun a fresh push to unite key stakeholders in the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Alli made the move when he held a strategic meeting with former Special Advisers (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) who served under the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

The meeting, held in Ibadan, provided an opportunity for the APC governorship candidate to engage the former political appointees on the party’s future and the task of reclaiming Oyo State in 2027.

Addressing the gathering, Alli acknowledged the wealth of political experience and grassroots knowledge possessed by the former Ajimobi aides.

He described them as important members of the progressive family whose experience could play a significant role in rebuilding the party and strengthening its campaign ahead of the election.

Alli urged party members to put aside personal interests and past differences, stressing that the larger interest of the APC and the people of Oyo State should remain the priority.

According to him, the experience gathered by members of the Ajimobi administration remains a valuable asset that should be deployed towards presenting the APC as a credible and development-focused alternative to the people of the state.

The APC candidate also called for stronger collaboration among party leaders, former political office holders, grassroots mobilisers and other stakeholders.

He maintained that effective coordination and unity would be crucial to the party’s chances at the 2027 poll.

Alli further assured the former SAs and SSAs that their opinions, recommendations and experience would be considered in the formulation of the party’s strategies and programmes.

Discussions at the meeting centred on the political situation in Oyo State, grassroots mobilisation, party unity, communication with voters and strategies for securing victory in 2027.
In their separate contributions, the former Ajimobi aides expressed their readiness to support efforts aimed at strengthening the APC and expanding its influence across the state.

The meeting is seen as part of the growing efforts to bring experienced party actors together as the APC prepares for what is expected to be a keenly contested governorship race in the state.
