Ogogo Alive, Daughter Dispels Death Rumour Amid Stage 4 Cancer Battle

A wave of anxiety that swept through Nollywood and the social media space on Tuesday over reports of the death of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has been dispelled by his daughter.

Ogogo, 66, is alive, according to his daughter, Lima Taiwo, who dismissed the viral report claiming that the celebrated actor had died after allegedly being rejected by several hospitals.

Lima took to Instagram to describe the report as false, repeatedly urging members of the public to stop circulating what she described as fake news.

The clarification came barely a day after Ogogo’s daughters, Lima and Kira, made emotional appeals for urgent medical assistance for their father, revealing that he is battling stage-four cancer.

As earlier reported by TrendscopeNews, the family’s desperate call for help had raised widespread concern among fans, colleagues and well-wishers of the veteran actor.

Lima, in an emotional video, appealed to medical professionals, hospitals and individuals with access to specialised cancer treatment to help the family find appropriate care for their father.

She stressed that the family was not asking Nigerians for money, but for medical intervention and access to specialists capable of taking on Ogogo’s case.

Kira also disclosed that her father had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer and said the family had been told that the hospital could no longer continue with chemotherapy.

She appealed to anyone with access to cancer treatment, particularly medical specialists and facilities capable of handling advanced cancer cases, to come to the family’s aid.

Lima further revealed that the family only became fully aware of the seriousness of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago, saying his outward appearance had initially given little indication of the severity of his illness.

News of his health condition has since triggered an outpouring of concern across the entertainment industry, with prominent Nollywood personalities calling for medical assistance and professional intervention for the actor.

Ogogo, whose real name is Taiwo Hassan, is one of the most recognisable figures in Yoruba-language cinema, having built a decades-long career as an actor, producer and filmmaker.

For now, his daughter’s clarification has put an end to the death rumour, even as attention remains firmly focused on the actor’s health and the family’s search for urgent medical assistance.
