The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has welcomed another child into the royal family, a baby girl born to one of his wives, Olori Oluwatosin.Oba Ogunwusi announced the arrival of the princess on his official social media pages on Sunday, describing her birth as a precious gift from God.
He also revealed that both Olori Oluwatosin and the newborn are in excellent health, as celebrations continue within the House of Oduduwa.
The monarch expressed gratitude to God for the safe arrival of the child and congratulated the royal household on the latest addition.
He prayed that the princess would grow in wisdom, grace and honour, setting the tone for what is expected to be another joyful chapter in the historic royal family.
The birth comes barely three months after another of the Ooni’s wives, Olori Mariam Ajibola, welcomed twin princes in May.
That arrival had also attracted widespread attention, adding two male heirs to the growing royal household.
Olori Oluwatosin, unlike some of the Ooni’s wives who have maintained a visible presence at public functions, has largely stayed away from the spotlight.
Although Oba Ogunwusi has publicly identified her as one of his wives, details about when their marriage took place have not been disclosed by the palace.
Her name was also absent from the list of six women whose marriages to the monarch were publicly reported between September and October 2022.
With the latest birth, another royal chapter has quietly unfolded within the House of Oduduwa, further expanding the family of the Ooni, who occupies one of the most revered traditional stools in Yorubaland.
For now, the palace has not announced the name of the newborn princess, leaving the young royal’s identity one of the details still being awaited by well-wishers and admirers of the Ife throne.
