When I Was a Child, I Spoke Like a Child“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, and I reasoned like a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
As I grow older, my overall outlook on life has become much more mature than it used to be. I have learned that maturity is not only about age; it is also about the ability to think independently, make wise decisions, and take responsibility for the consequences of our choices.
If you want to become fully mature in this world, you must learn to listen to your inner voice and develop the wisdom to make decisions for yourself. It is wise to listen to the advice of others, but at the end of the day, you are the one who must live with the consequences of your decisions. Therefore, you must be able to determine what is right for you.
When you allow other people to make every important decision on your behalf, you leave the door open to deception. Sometimes, people may give you advice based not on what is best for you, but on what benefits them or protects their own interests.
Never blindly follow the advice of someone who has something at stake or something to lose because of the decision you are about to make. Their advice may be influenced by their personal interests rather than your well-being.
If you follow someone's advice and fail, that person may have nothing to offer you but excuses, criticism, or even contempt. But if you ignore their advice and succeed, they may eventually try to walk in your footsteps.
Therefore, listen to advice, consider different perspectives, pray about your decisions, and then use your own God-given wisdom to make the final choice.
Maturity is knowing when to listen to others and when to trust the wisdom God has placed within you.
