Princess Taibat Adeyemi-Agaba was among the newly appointed commissioners sworn in by the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Friday, June 17, 2016.
Adeyemi-Agaba was assigned to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, an appointment that was widely regarded as a fitting one, given her educational background, professional experience and exposure.
With a career spanning more than 15 years as a qualified social worker in the United States of America, Adeyemi-Agaba brings considerable experience to her new responsibility.
She grew up and received part of her education in the United States, where she attended Los Angeles City College and West Carolina.
She and her sister, Princess Folashade Adeyemi of Arewa House of Culture, were raised in Los Angeles, where they also raised their children.
Beyond her professional background, Adeyemi-Agaba’s appointment also attracted attention because of her royal heritage and family pedigree.
Her mother, Ayaba Adebayo Tamar Adeyemi, popularly known as “Iya Ilekoto”, is the second wife of the Alaafin of Oyo. Taibat is the fourth child and third daughter of the family.
After spending several years in the United States, Adeyemi-Agaba eventually relocated to Nigeria, where she ventured into business and continued to build her career.
She is married and blessed with children.
