TrendscopeNews is an independent Nigerian digital news publication committed to responsible journalism, accuracy, fairness, transparency and reporting in the public interest.

1. Accuracy and Verification

TrendscopeNews makes reasonable efforts to verify information before publication.

Depending on the nature of a story, our journalists may rely on official statements, public records, documents, interviews, direct observations, eyewitness accounts and other credible sources.

Information that cannot be reasonably verified is treated with appropriate caution.

2. Attribution and Originality
When information originates from another publication, organisation, news agency, official statement or other external source, TrendscopeNews seeks to provide appropriate attribution.

We do not knowingly present another publisher’s original work as our own.

Where a report is based substantially on a press release or official statement, the source will be identified where appropriate.

Our journalists are encouraged to add relevant context, background and independently obtained information rather than merely reproducing material supplied by another source.

News reports are written to present factual information accurately, clearly and fairly.

Headlines are written to attract attention while remaining faithful to the substance of the accompanying report.

TrendscopeNews does not intentionally use headlines that materially misrepresent the contents of an article.

Opinion and commentary articles are clearly distinguished from factual news reports.

The views expressed in opinion articles belong to their respective authors and do not necessarily represent the position of TrendscopeNews.

If an error is identified after publication, TrendscopeNews will review the matter and make an appropriate correction or update where necessary.
Material factual corrections may be accompanied by a clarification.

We encourage readers to notify the newsroom of suspected errors.

8. Anonymous Sources
Anonymous sources may be used where there is a legitimate journalistic reason to protect the identity of a source and where the information is considered sufficiently credible.

Anonymous sourcing is not used merely to make an otherwise unsupported claim appear authoritative.

Where an image or other material is supplied by an identifiable source, appropriate attribution will be provided where applicable.
We do not knowingly publish copyrighted material without a lawful basis.

Advertising, sponsorships and commercial relationships should not determine the editorial position of TrendscopeNews.

Where content is sponsored or commercially motivated, it should be appropriately identified where required.
