The South West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) is set to host the then Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Cybercrime, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, at its maiden special media chat.
The programme was scheduled to hold on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the SWEGOP office located within the headquarters of CEO Africa in Jericho, Ibadan.
According to a statement signed by the group’s chairman, Mr Olayinka Agboola, Senator Buhari, who represented Oyo North Senatorial District at the time, was expected to field questions on a range of issues affecting the country.
Among the major issues lined up for discussion were Nigeria’s economic development, the recession being experienced at the time and the recently concluded Ondo State governorship election.
Agboola said the media chat was designed to provide an opportunity for the senator to interact directly with online publishers and address issues of public interest.
The programme was scheduled to commence at 10 a.m., with members of the online media community expected to participate in the maiden edition of the initiative.
