The member representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Temitope Olatoye, popularly known as “Sugar”, has donated a block of classrooms to Arikuyeri Community Primary School in Lagelu Local Government Area.
The newly completed school facility was equipped with furniture and other basic amenities, including electricity and water, as part of efforts to improve the learning environment for pupils in the community.
The school, established in 1955, was said to have experienced years of neglect, with major improvements reportedly last carried out during the administration of the late Chief Bola Ige in 1980.
The project was commissioned on Thursday, July 27, 2017, attracting commendation from community leaders and residents who attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the commissioning, the school’s Head Teacher, Comrade Fatoki, commended Olatoye for the intervention and urged him to sustain his support for education and community development.
The Olugbon of Ile-Igbon, Oba Sabitu Oyetunde I, also praised the lawmaker for what he described as his contributions to the development of the constituency.
The traditional ruler expressed satisfaction with Olatoye’s representation at the National Assembly and commended his efforts in supporting projects within the constituency.
Baale Ejioku, Chief Bashiru Adesina, also recalled benefiting from one of the empowerment programmes sponsored by the lawmaker.
“He provided us with basic amenities needed, such as constant power supply, renovations and pipe-borne water. I hope he includes the building of my palace in his projects list,” Adesina said.
Similarly, the Baale of Alagudu, Chief Ajisefini Isiak, described Olatoye’s interventions as efforts capable of creating lasting benefits for younger members of the community.
He urged young people to emulate positive examples of public service and contribute to the development of their communities and the country.
The commissioning of the classroom block was another addition to the constituency projects attributed to Olatoye during his tenure as a federal lawmaker.
