Details of the burial arrangements for the late Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Deji Tinubu, have been released.
Tinubu, who also served as Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, will be buried in Lagos following a series of funeral activities scheduled to begin on Monday, January 29, 2018.
The funeral programme will commence with a Service of Songs at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos, at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Tuesday, January 30, the deceased will lie in state at the same venue from 9:30 a.m., after which a funeral service will be held at the RCCG City of David.
Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service at Vaults & Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Tinubu’s death came as a shock after he reportedly slumped while participating in a five-a-side football match during a retreat organised for members of the Lagos State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries at Jubilee Chalets, Epe.
He was subsequently reported to have died from the incident, leaving colleagues, friends and associates mourning his sudden passing.
Tinubu was appointed Special Adviser on Sports and Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and was sworn into office on October 19, 2015.
Before his appointment into the state cabinet, he had built a career spanning business, sports administration and public service.
The late Tinubu was the son of the late Kafaru Tinubu, a respected former Nigerian police officer who was regarded as one of the country’s prominent senior police officers.
He is survived by his mother, Bintu Tinubu, his wife, Yemisi, and other family members, friends and associates who are expected to gather in Lagos to bid him a final farewell.
