Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ruled that Chief Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications Plc, has a case to answer in the alleged N2.1 billion fraud case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Tsoho’s ruling follows the court’s consideration of the evidence presented by the anti-graft agency in the case.
The EFCC disclosed the development through its official Twitter handle, @officialEFCC.
The court’s decision means that the case will proceed, with Dokpesi expected to respond to the allegations brought against him by the commission.
A contemporary report of the ruling stated that the judge found that a prima facie case had been established against him.
Dokpesi had earlier been accused by the EFCC of using DAAR Communications Limited in connection with the alleged diversion of N2.1 billion from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), which was then headed by Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd.).
The allegation formed part of the EFCC’s case against Dokpesi and his company.
However, the court’s finding that he has a case to answer does not amount to a conviction. The allegations remain subject to the full determination of the court.
The development marks another stage in the legal proceedings as the parties continue to present their respective cases before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
