New Telegraph Honors Nsima Ekere With Leadership Award

Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima Ekere, is in the spotlight following his recognition with a Corporate Leadership Award at the 2018 New Telegraph Awards in Lagos.

Ekere, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State for the 2019 election, received the honour at a colourful ceremony held at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, December 18, 2018.

The event attracted several prominent Nigerians, including Chairman of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu; Chief Dan Chukwudozie of Dozzy Group; former Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN); and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Ekere’s recognition stands out as he receives the Corporate Leadership Award from New Telegraph for the second consecutive year, underscoring the newspaper’s continued acknowledgement of his contribution to corporate and public leadership.

While receiving the award, Ekere expressed appreciation to the management and staff of New Telegraph for the recognition. He said the honour would further encourage him to remain committed to initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people in Nigeria and beyond.

His public profile has been closely associated with his tenure at the NDDC, where he serves as Managing Director. His activities at the commission have continued to attract attention, particularly in his home state of Akwa Ibom.

Ekere is from Ikot Oboroenyin in the Edemaya Clan of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

His emergence as the APC governorship candidate for the 2019 election also places him at the centre of the state’s political activities.

With the governorship contest gathering momentum, Ekere’s political supporters are increasingly projecting his candidacy across the state, while his recognition at the New Telegraph Awards adds another dimension to the public profile of the former NDDC boss.

The award therefore comes at a politically significant period for Ekere, as his record in public service, leadership experience and governorship ambition continue to generate discussion across Akwa Ibom’s political landscape.
