As a respected father figure, the Olubadan's role is firmly rooted in tradition, unity, and the preservation of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage, not political maneuvering.
It is perplexing to witness individuals or groups, seemingly driven by selfish interests, attempting to sow discord between our revered monarch and the duly elected Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.
Claims of the Olubadan's involvement in political scheming are entirely baseless and must be rejected by all well-meaning sons and daughters of Ibadan.
Equally baseless and illogical is the allegation that Governor Makinde ever harbored intentions to dethrone the Olubadan.
Such a notion disregards the profound respect that exists between the traditional institution and the state government.
The people of Ibadan hold their heritage in high esteem and would never tolerate any action that undermines the sanctity of the Olubadan stool. These fabricated claims only serve to fuel unnecessary tension and distract from genuine issues.
Furthermore, linking the Olubadan to any speculative impeachment plot against the governor is implausible, especially as Governor Makinde approaches the completion of his second term. One must question the true motive behind such destabilizing narratives.
The Olubadan’s primary responsibility is the peaceful administration of the Ibadan traditional institution, a role he has performed with dignity, wisdom, and commendable leadership.
He deserves the unwavering support, respect, and protection of all Ibadan indigenes, free from the noise of political manipulation.
Let us, as a community, focus on issue-based politics and constructive engagement, allowing our revered father to continue steering the affairs of the Ibadan dynasty with the grace and excellence he has consistently demonstrated.
