Tinubu Hails Osoba as ‘Brother in Purpose’ on Birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid a glowing tribute to elder statesman and former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Chief Olusegun Osoba, describing him as “a brother in purpose” whose life has been defined by integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to nation-building.

In a heartfelt birthday message released on Wednesday, the President reflected on decades of friendship and shared political ideals with the veteran journalist and politician, saying their relationship was built on a common belief that Nigeria could be governed with competence, respect for institutions and genuine concern for the people.

Tinubu recalled years of working closely with Osoba through political campaigns, strategic meetings and public engagements, praising him for remaining steadfast in difficult moments.

He described the former governor as a leader who consistently placed the welfare of ordinary Nigerians above political calculations and never lost sight of the human impact of government decisions.

The President also extolled Osoba’s remarkable legacy in journalism, noting that he inspired and mentored younger journalists with humility, discipline and a strong sense of professionalism while championing a free but responsible press.

According to Tinubu, Osoba’s calm disposition, historical perspective and wise counsel have remained invaluable through the years, adding that his consistency, humility and respect for others have distinguished him both in public office and private life.

Expressing gratitude for Osoba’s enduring friendship and support, Tinubu prayed for good health, peace and many more years of fulfilment.

He also expressed hope that they would continue working together towards building a Nigeria with quality education, durable infrastructure and a government that remains accountable to its citizens.

“Thank you for being a brother in purpose. Thank you for the counsel, your laughter, and for the reminder that leadership without character is worthless,” the President stated in the goodwill message.
