Adanla At Another Milestone: TrendscopeNews Celebrates Afia Group CEO On His Birthday

As he marks another remarkable year on Friday, 2nd October, the entire team at TrendscopeNews joins family members, friends, business associates, professional colleagues and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond to celebrate an accomplished entrepreneur, respected community leader and distinguished philanthropist, Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem, MCIArb, MCIOB, MCABE, Chairman and CEO of Afia Group of Companies.

Engr. Karheem, the Mogaji of Adanla family of Ibadan, has steadily built a reputation around enterprise, professional excellence and purposeful leadership, transforming years of experience in the built environment into a thriving business enterprise with an expanding footprint in real estate, construction and other strategic sectors.

His journey reflects a compelling blend of technical expertise and entrepreneurial vision. Having developed substantial professional experience in the United Kingdom, particularly within the housing and construction sector, he returned to Nigeria and channelled his knowledge into ventures that have contributed meaningfully to the growth of Ibadan’s built environment.
Under his leadership, Afia Group has grown into a diversified business organisation, with notable developments including Afia Court, Afia Apartment, Mandamis by Afia, Magdalen’s Court and The Crest, among other residential and commercial projects.

The group’s expanding portfolio, alongside its newer ventures and strategic partnerships, reflects a business philosophy anchored on innovation, quality and long-term value creation.

Beyond bricks, mortar and balance sheets, Adanla’s story is equally defined by a strong commitment to community development. His interventions in education, healthcare, religious development and humanitarian causes have continued to give practical expression to his belief that business success should translate into wider social impact.

One notable example came during the 2026 Ramadan Memorial Lecture organised in honour of his late father, Alhaji Karheem Boladale Adanla, where he supported 100 deserving students with cash gifts, reinforcing his commitment to educational empowerment and the development of younger members of society.

His humanitarian footprint has also extended into healthcare, with recognition from the Al Basar International Foundation for contributions to eye-care and humanitarian initiatives associated with the inauguration of Makkah Specialist Hospital in Ibadan. Such interventions have added a humanitarian dimension to an already distinguished corporate profile.

Adanla’s influence, in addition to his traditional role, also cuts across Islamic and community institutions. As Turaki Adinni of Oyo State, Wakil Faido Tijaniyyah of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, and Giwa Adinni of Offa Land, he carries responsibilities that extend well beyond his corporate calling.

His relationship with Ibadan’s traditional institution has equally remained significant. Adanla has publicly expressed deep respect for the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, whom he has credited with encouragement at an important stage of his entrepreneurial journey.
At a time when Afia Group is opening fresh business frontiers, including its partnership with Great Wall Motors, Adanla’s birthday offers an opportunity not merely to celebrate age, but to acknowledge a continuing journey of enterprise, service, resilience and impact.

From the boardroom to the community, from professional practice to philanthropy, his story continues to demonstrate how business leadership can be combined with social responsibility and a deep sense of duty to one’s people.

As TrendscopeNews celebrates this accomplished son of Ibadan, we salute his business acumen, disciplined leadership, community spirit and generosity of purpose, while wishing him many more years of sound health, greater accomplishments, wisdom and enduring impact.

Happy Birthday, Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem (Adanla).

From all of us at TrendscopeNews — congratulations and many happy returns.
