The publisher of Street Journal Magazine, Mogaji Wole Arisekola, was on Saturday, conferred the award of Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigene (MPII) by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).
Presenting the recognition award, CCII President, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, commended Arisekola's commitment and unwavering supports towards the development of Ibadanland and the society at large.
"In recognition of your exceptional philanthropy and unwavering Support for the development of Ibadanland, as well as your tremendous Contributions to the well-being and advancement of many Ibadan indigenes," the award plaque reads.
Arisekola, who doubles as the Mogaji of Ajenigieye, Oje, Ibadan, stormed the iconic event alongside another awardee, Colonel Adenike Monilola Akerele (Rtd); Chairman, Harmony Garden and Estate Development Limited, Hon. Saheed Audullahi Mosadoluwa, also known as 'Saheed Ibile', among others.
The award ceremony was part of the many fascinating activities marking the grand finale of this year's edition of Ibadan Cultural Festival (Ibadan Week).
Other dignitaries also honored at the colourful event included the governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri; Late Chief Amos Segun Adepoju; Balogun Gaphar Babatunde Ojetola; Chief Waheed Ekun, among others.
The host governor, Engr. 'Seyi Makinde; Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; Otun Olubadan, Oba Senator Rashidi Ladoja, who represented the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin as well as other prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland were all present.
Also noticeable at the ceremony were members of the Ajenigieye family of Yemetu-Oje, Ibadan. They were there to celebrate their Mogaji, Wole Arisekola, who had not only done well for them but Ibadanland and the society generally.
Of course, Arisekola's philanthropic gestures didn't just start yesterday. It has been part and parcel of him to touch lives.
Wole Arisekola is entrepreneur, a notable philanthropist, and community Leader whose influence extends across the South-Western region of Nigeria and beyond.
He's widely recognized for his unwavering commitments to social development and community upliftment, having made a lasting impact through various humanitarian and entrepreneurial ventures.
in 2013, he single-handedly embarked on an ambitious water project, constructing boreholes across all the western states of Nigeria and Kogi State.
Notably, he provided a borehole at Agodi Prison and another at Elitolu Village in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, directly addressing critical water needs in these communities.
His compassion for the underprivileged is evident in the foundation he established for elderly widows in Ibadan. Through this initiative, over a hundred widows receive monthly stipends 20,000 naira, providing them with dignity and financial relief in their old age.
Also in a bid to foster economic empowerment within his immediate community, Mogaji Arisekola launched an interest-free cooperative society based in his family compound. This scheme enables individuals to access loans to support their businesses without the burden of interest, a rare initiative that continues to benefit numerous families to this day.
Education is another area where Arisekola has made significant strides. His education foundation annually distributes textbooks, school bags, and exercise books to schoolchildren in the Yemetu Oje area of Ibadan, ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the basic tools they need for learning.
Beyond philanthropy, Mogaji Wole Arisekola is also a successful entrepreneur. He serves as the Chairman of Okebadan Oil and Gas as well as Oluyole Estate in Abuja, reflecting his acumen in business and leadership.
A true son of Ibadan and a respected figure in his community, Mogaji Arisekola embodies the spirit of service, generosity, and visionary leadership.
