Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) is a very prominent and highly revered socio-cultural organization. It's an organization that all sons and daughters of Ibadan land don't joke with.
It was established back then in collaboration with three major socio-cultural societies-Ibadan Progressive Union (IPU), Lagelu ‘1 Club and Ibadan Descendant Union of the University of Ibadan and the Polytechnic of Ibadan (IDU U.I/POLY).
The club, located at Ibadan House, Oke Aremo, Yemetu area of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, was established in 1982, and has since then been an integral part of heritage and cultural values of the ancient city.
In fact CCII doesn't only serve an umbrella body of all socio-cultural societies/clubs of Ibadan extraction both home and abroad, it's also saddled with the responsibility of coordinating and harmonizing the development efforts of these societies to promote the economic, social, educational, and cultural interests of Ibadan land.
The current President-General of the club is Barr. Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, who is serving a second term of two years. Among many social/cultural events of CCII is the annual Ibadan Cultural Festival (Ibadan Week) celebration, which its 2025 edition grand finale was held recently at the main bowl of the historic Obafemi Awolowo (Liberty) Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan. Where the rich cultural heritage and values of the ancient city were glamorously showcased.
Also, in the course of the mega celebration, some outstanding Ibadan personalities as well as others from outside of the city, as usual, were honored for their immense contributions toward the development of not only the city and its indigenes but also to the society generally.
Chief 'Bowale Oluwole Arisekola, publisher of Street Journal Magazine and the Mogaji Ajenigieye, Oje Ibadan, who was conferred with the award of Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigene (MPII); Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State; Late Chief Amos Segun Adepoju; Balogun Gaphar Babatunde Ojetola; Chief Waheed Ekun and othere were among the top dignitaries honoured at the colorful event.
In case you don't know, Ibadan Cultural Festival (Ibadan Week), like the world famous Ojude-Oba, on a yearly basis, features march past of the families of Ibadan legendary warriors and ancestors, various compound heads and Mogajis, as well as different clubs/societies in their unique attires.
So it's as result of all these aforementioned development-oriented and cultural promotion programs that CCII has grown in leaps and bounds to where it is today.
