It was an amazing occasion as the 1995 set of Bishop Phillips Academy, Ibadan, celebrated their 30th post graduation anniversary on Friday, 17th October 2025, and Saturday, 18th October 2025.
On the first day of the anniversary, the Association visited a special needs home, bringing food items and diapers, as well as organizing a novelty football match and distributing exercise books to students of their alma mater.
The second day, held at the Functions Hall of Jogor Event Centre in Ibadan, featured various activities, including games, a raffle draw, awards, networking, the cutting of the anniversary cake, and much more.
Dr. Aliyu Olalekan Amuzat, the Coordinator and President of the BPA '95 Set, in his address, highlighted the genesis of the Association, explaining why it was formed in 2010 and formally registered in 2023.
The erudite scholar and associate professor at IBB University in Niger State noted how the group has grown in leaps and bounds to now include about 170 members.
Dr. Amuzat emphasized that the sole aim of establishing the Association is to forge a strong bond among its members, to help and support one another, celebrate their shared memories and achievements, and to plan reunions and anniversaries in order for members to remain connected.
He remarked that, "Three decades ago, we were innocent young boys and girls, full of dreams, energy, and yes, a little mischief.
"Today, we return not only as professionals, parents, leaders, and mentors but also as lifelong friends bound together by the memories, lessons, and values that our alma mater instilled in us."
Speaking further, Amuzat expressed his profound gratitude to the teachers and mentors whose sacrifices shaped the old students, both in academics and in character, enabling them to become good ambassadors of their alma mater.
Amuzat therefore charged his colleagues not to view the 30th anniversary as the end of their story but as the beginning of a new chapter, emphasizing the need for everyone to deepen their impact in the community, in the lives of the next generation, and in the legacy of their great alma mater.
Apart from the sumptuous meals, both local and continental, the free flow of drinks, and the good music, another highlight of the event was the awards presentation to outstanding staff (both teaching and non-teaching) associated with Bishop Phillips Academy.
The recipients included Mrs. Ojo Cecelia Olaoluwa, a renowned scholar and retired teacher; Mrs. Idayat Ajeleti, a retired teacher and elder in Winner’s Chapel Church; Mr. Matthew Oladele; Comrade George Eledan; Mrs. Grace Olajide; Mr. Adebayo Fatoki; Mr. Mufutau Iyanda; Pastor/Evangelist Oguntoki Oladujoye; Pastor Alabi Akeem, B.Ed., M.Ed.; and Mr. Ismaila Ajayi (Counselor).
Some of the distinguished guests who graced this iconic occasion included Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem, MCIArb, MCIOB, МСАВЕ, CEO of Afia Group; Mogaji Adanla, Turaki Adinni of Oyo State; Wakil Faido Tijaniya of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta states and the Giwa Adinni of Offa Land, who was the Special Guest of Honour; and Ambassador Kazeem Olaniyan, CEO of Omo-Ola Travels & Tours, who served as the Chairman of the Day, among others.
Mogaji Adanla and Olaniyan not only graced the event to honor the old students but also made significant financial contributions, with Adanla donating the sum of N1 million and Olaniyan contributing N500,000.
This generosity highlights the strong bond that exists between them and the alumni.
Also contributing to the success of the program was Friesland Campina WAMCO, the producer of Peak and Three Crowns milk, which supplied Yogurt Drink for the occasion and training vests worth over N750,000.
Speaking on behalf of the Association, Alhaji Akeem Akinborode, a member of the planning committee and a financial expert with Eminent Financial Ltd., expressed profound gratitude to Mogaji Adanla, Olaniyan, and Friesland Campina WAMCO for their kind gestures towards the success of the occasion.
Akinborode also commended every member of the committee, as well as all the alumni who contributed to the success of the program in one way or another.
The colorful 30th anniversary celebration of the '95 set of Bishop Phillips Academy, Ibadan, was distinctively organized by a strong planning committee chaired by Engr. Oladele Okunaya.
The event created nostalgic memories for the old students who attended from Nigeria and the diaspora, particularly from Canada, the USA, and the UK.
