The family of Hon. Jola Faseru is vehemently demanding his immediate release, alleging "unlawful detention in the past three weeks and a deliberate disregard for due process" by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Odogbo Barracks, Maj. Gen. Chinedu Nnebeife.
They claim that exhaustive military investigations have cleared Hon. Faseru of all allegations, yet his detention continues.
According to the family, multiple investigations by the Military Police Unit found no evidence linking Hon. Faseru to illegal mining or the unlawful use of soldiers.
Instead, investigations reportedly confirmed that all military engagements were conducted through official channels, with payments made to the appropriate military account associated with Lt. Col. Agbokai, Commander of Ibodi Barracks.
The family asserts that any internal issues related to these arrangements are strictly military matters and should be resolved within the military hierarchy, without holding Hon. Faseru, a civilian, as a "scapegoat."
They emphasize that the Nigerian military lacks constitutional authority to detain a civilian who has been cleared of wrongdoing and has not been indicted or charged.
"The refusal or failure to release Hon. Jola Faseru after he has been cleared amounts to arbitrary detention and an affront to the rule of law," the family stated, warning that this "dangerous overreach undermines public confidence and sets a precedent that contradicts democratic governance."
The family thereby demands the immediate release of Hon. Jola Faseru, the resolution of any issues involving military officers internally, as well as the transfer of any civilian allegations to the Nigeria Police.
They conclude by stating, "Nigeria is not under military rule. The Constitution must prevail. Hon. Jola Faseru has been cleared. Enough delay. Enough intimidation. Let him go."

This is very unlawful of the Nigerian army, people who I thought were the only incorruptible in this country. Hon. Jola Faseru is not just an ordinary person, he has made big impacts in his community, something that many politicians fail to do. He has created jobs for the youth and old with a certified mine that is even in cooperation with the Ministry of Resources and Energy in Osun state Nigeria. Military Army of Nigeria do better

ReplyDeleteHow can a law abiding citizen of the Republic of Nigeria be detain unjustly without committing any crime. All investigations were thoroughly made and he stand out without committing any crime. How can the Nigerian Army detained a law abiding citizen in place of their staff in person of Lt. Col. Agbokai, Commander of Ibodi Barracks. Free Hon. Jola Faseru. The G O C in charge in person of Major Gen. Chinedu Nnebeife should do the needful and stop exercising power and authority as if they are above the law.
