A leading Nigerian real estate developer, Afia Homes & Properties, has entered into a distribution agreement with China-based formwork company, Beizhu Group.
Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem MCIArb, MCIOB, МСАВЕ, the Afia Group CEO, noted that the agreement is in line with his company’s passion and commitment to bringing innovation to the built environment in Nigeria.
“This landmark partnership will not only change the face of the built environment in Nigeria but also introduce eco-friendly and cost-effective materials that align with global sustainability standards,” he said.
He added that, “Over the years, the construction industry has spent a lot of money buying planks for formwork. This is a serious waste and dangerous to our environment. A ten-year-old tree will be used for formwork in construction, which is not only uneconomical but also leads to deforestation.”
Commending Afia Homes & Properties’ commitment to bridging the gap in the sector, the top Chinese manufacturer known for its innovative building solutions, described the collaboration as “not just a contract but a significant responsibility and an honor”.
“Having such an outstanding and capable partner as Afia Homes & Properties by our side is something our entire team feels truly honored about,” the Chinese manufacturer added.
This latest collaboration is just one of the many giant strides of Afia Homes & Properties and highlights why the company was recently crowned as City People’s Indigenous Real Estate Developer Of The Year 2026.
The collaboration also underscores Nigeria's growing interest in adopting smart and sustainable building practices, positioning the country as a regional hub for innovative construction solutions in West Africa.
Industry experts highlight that integrating reusable formwork technology could significantly impact Nigeria’s infrastructure growth, particularly in affordable housing and public works projects.
As Nigeria continues to pursue urbanization and infrastructural modernization, partnerships like this one demonstrate a shared commitment to leveraging international expertise and advanced technologies for national progress.
