Sarafadeen Alli Champions Agricultural Innovation for Food Security

Senator Sharafadeen Alli has underscored the critical need to bridge the gap between government institutions, farmers, and agricultural research centres across Nigeria.

Alli, the Oyo South senator and a leading governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized this on Monday.

Speaking at a media parley organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, ahead of the maiden National Legislative Summit and Expo on Agricultural Colleges and Research Institutions, the lawmaker emphasized that the initiative aims to strengthen collaboration and enhance agricultural development nationwide.
As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, Alli stressed the centrality of research to achieving food security.

He noted that sustainable agricultural development hinges on innovation, robust legislation, and strong institutional support.
The summit, scheduled to hold from May 12 to 15 at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, is set to be a landmark event.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour.

Alli noted that this summit marks the first legislative-driven national engagement specifically focused on agricultural colleges and research institutions in Nigeria.
