SWEGOP Demands Urgent Action for Oriire Abductees

The South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has urged the Federal and Oyo State governments to escalate efforts for the immediate release of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement by Chairman Bisi Oladele and Publicity Secretary Remi Oladoye, SWEGOP condemned the "heart-breaking and traumatizing" incident, highlighting its contribution to insecurity fears in the Southwest.

The group emphasized that the abduction is an attack on victims' families, communities, and regional peace, eroding public confidence in safety.

SWEGOP criticized the prolonged detention, citing it as evidence of weaknesses in Nigeria's security framework.

While commending ongoing rescue operations, they called for sustained government efforts and collaboration with stakeholders.

SWEGOP also appealed to security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering and surveillance in vulnerable communities to prevent future occurrences
