Updated: Laide Badmus’ Friends Tackle Lamide Akinruntan Over Husband Snatching Claims

The controversy surrounding the alleged rift between Lamide Akinruntan, wife of Prince Yomi Akinruntan, son of Oba Adejuyigbe Akinruntan, Chairman of Obat Oil, and her former friend, Laide Badmus, appears far from over.

The dispute attracted public attention after Lamide allegedly accused Laide of having an affair with her husband. The allegation, however, has remained a matter of contention, with the parties offering different perspectives on the issue.

The situation reportedly took another turn after Laide petitioned the police, alleging that she had received threats to her life.
Since The Anchor Online first reported the development, different accounts of the dispute have circulated, particularly on social media.

The latest development is that some of Laide’s friends have publicly come to her defence, urging Lamide to address the matter privately rather than continuing the accusations online.

One of those who reacted, Akeremale Seun, advised Lamide to speak directly with both Laide and Yomi to establish the facts surrounding the alleged relationship.

Writing on Facebook, Seun said Lamide should “stop embarrassing her husband” and consider the implications of the controversy for the family.

She also criticised the involvement of friends on both sides, arguing that further exchanges on social media could escalate rather than resolve the disagreement.

Another Facebook user, Amber Scoott Oshodi, similarly urged Lamide to direct her questions to her husband instead of concentrating on Laide.

Oshodi questioned whether Lamide had personally seen Laide with Yomi or confronted her husband over the allegation. She also appealed to Lamide’s friends to help resolve the disagreement rather than worsen the situation.

According to Oshodi, the two women were previously known to be friends, making it preferable for people close to them to seek reconciliation instead of fuelling the dispute.

Another person who criticised the public handling of the controversy was Eniola Yetunde Balogun.

Balogun urged Lamide to stop making allegations against Laide without what she described as proof or evidence.

She also questioned why Lamide had allegedly not responded to a police invitation reportedly connected with Laide’s petition over alleged threats to her life.

She further advised Lamide to address the matter with her husband and avoid making the dispute a prolonged public affair.

“If truly you both used to be friends, think about it and confirm your allegations because it is not fair,” Balogun wrote.

The reactions from Laide’s friends have added another dimension to an already controversial dispute that has generated considerable attention online.

While Lamide’s alleged accusations have not been independently established, Laide’s friends maintain that the matter should be handled with restraint and, preferably, through direct communication between the parties involved.

For now, the central issue remains unresolved, with the allegations and counter-allegations continuing to generate public interest.

Whether the parties will settle the disagreement privately or pursue further action remains to be seen.
