The interest of the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bayo Adelabu, in property development and hospitality is attracting attention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Adelabu, who is the Deputy Governor in charge of the Corporate Services Directorate at the CBN, had previously served as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
A young corporate executive with a strong professional background, Adelabu was also known for his interest in real estate and hospitality, with developments linked to his name in Ibadan.
One of the projects that drew attention is Bayse One Hotel, located on Akinola Maja Street, Jericho, Ibadan.
The hotel, which had been developed around the period of his appointment to the CBN, featured modern facilities and was positioned as an upscale hospitality destination in the city.
While the hotel project was still attracting attention, another major development associated with Adelabu was taking shape.
His nearly completed Bayse One Checkmate Plaza was located along the popular MKO Abiola Way, formerly known as Ring Road, around Adeoyo Junction in Ibadan.
The multi-million-naira commercial property further highlighted Adelabu’s reported interest in real estate development and his investment activities in his home city.
Adelabu, a grandson of the late Ibadan politician Chief Adegoke Adelabu, popularly known as “Penkelemesi,” was at the time regarded as one of the prominent young professionals with strong ties to Ibadan’s business and social circles.
