Oyo Assembly Speakership: Michael Adeyemo Tipped for Speaker

There are strong indications that Hon. Michael Adesina Adeyemo, a second-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibarapa East Constituency, may emerge as Speaker when the new Assembly is inaugurated.

Also tipped for a leadership position is Hon. Musa Wasiu Tunde, representing Saki West Constituency and has being considered for the position of Deputy Speaker.

Both lawmakers are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which had a strong presence in the Oyo State House of Assembly at the time.

According to information gathered, Adeyemo and Musa had been adopted for the respective positions at a meeting attended by leaders of the party in the state.

Adeyemo is a returning member of the Assembly and he is serving as Deputy Chief Whip in the previous Assembly.

Musa Wasiu Tunde, on the other hand, is a first-term member-elect. He is a lawyer and a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

The new Oyo State House of Assembly is scheduled to be inaugurated on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, when members are expected to elect the principal officers of the legislature.
