Akeem Azeez, media aide to gubernatorial candidate Engr. Oluseyi Makinde of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the last general elections, has emerged as the Publicity Secretary of the party in Oyo State.
Azeez was declared the newly elected Publicity Secretary on Saturday, January 16, 2016, during the state congress of the party held at Olubadan Stadium, NTC Road, Ibadan.
His emergence adds to the growing profile of the media professional within the party, following his role in Makinde’s campaign during the gubernatorial election.
Shortly after his name was announced, Azeez took to his Facebook page to appreciate party members, supporters, friends and others who congratulated him and offered prayers for his new responsibility.
Expressing gratitude for the support he received, he wrote:
“I felt loved and appreciated with the outpourings of support and prayers through all the available channels shortly after my name was declared as the newly elected Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State.
“I want to thank you all for being there always. Meanwhile, I need your support, understanding and prayers more to be a success story on this task.
“Once again, my gratitude is eternal.”
Azeez’s election is expected to see him play a key role in the party’s public communication and media engagement in Oyo State as the SDP seeks to strengthen its presence in the state.
