Lola, the talented daughter of Ibadan-born businessman Wole Arisekola, has made a strong impression on The Voice of Ireland, the popular singing competition produced by RTÉ.
Lola took to the stage alongside Emmett Daly, another member of Team Una, during the Battle Stage of the competition. The pair performed “We Stole the Show” in a bid to secure a place in the next stage of the contest.
At the Battle Stage, the four coaches each had a team of 14 contestants. The coaches divided their teams into duos and assigned each pair a song to perform together.
The contestants then battled it out on stage before a live audience, with each coach selecting one performer from each duo to advance.
However, the format also allowed each coach to “steal” two contestants who had been eliminated by fellow coaches, giving the coaches an opportunity to strengthen their teams.
Following the Battle Stage, each coach was expected to take nine contestants into the Live Knockouts.
During the Live Knockouts, the competition moved into a live format, with 36 contestants competing over three weeks for places in the live quarter-finals.
Each week, three contestants from each team performed, with their coach selecting only one contestant to advance to the quarter-finals.
After Sunday’s show, it was decided that Emmett would remain on Team Una, while Lola moved to Team Bressie.
The competition would eventually narrow down to the final stage, where four contestants would perform twice before the winner was determined through a public vote.
The eventual winner would be crowned The Voice of Ireland and receive a recording contract with Universal Music.
Lola’s performance generated attention among viewers, particularly in Nigeria, where her father, Wole Arisekola, is well known as a businessman from Ibadan.
