The United Kingdom’s House of Lords has honoured the late Ibadan-born international businesswoman, Chief (Mrs.) Bola Amole, for her outstanding achievements and contributions to business during her lifetime.
Amole was honoured on Thursday, May 19, 2016, by the former Mayor of Southwark and then Councillor, Sunil Chopra.
Her daughter received the Certificate of Appreciation on her behalf. The certificate was presented by Lord Popat, who had been appointed a Minister of the Crown Government Whip in the House of Lords, United Kingdom.
Until her death, Chief (Mrs.) Bola Amole was regarded as a prominent businesswoman and a role model to many.
As an agriculturist and entrepreneur, she established herself as a businesswoman of international repute.
Established in 1994, BIMS African Foods grew into a recognised supplier of African food products, serving customers and businesses, particularly in South London.
Beyond business, Amole was also known for her commitment to community development in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Her diligence, generosity, loyalty and hardworking nature earned her the respect and affection of many people.
Her philanthropic activities reportedly began long before she ventured into politics, with her generosity making her a source of inspiration to many aspiring entrepreneurs and members of her community.
Her death shortly before Nigeria’s general elections in 2015 came as a shock to those who knew her.
From Ibadan to London, friends, associates and members of the communities she touched mourned the passing of a woman remembered for her business achievements, generosity and service to others.
