“ I Missed My Son While in Detention for Two Months” — Fani-Kayode

Former Aviation Minister and spokesman for the Goodluck Jonathan 2015 Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed his joy at reuniting with his family following his release from detention on Friday, July 15, 2016.

Fani-Kayode had been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since his arrest in Abuja on May 9, 2016.

He was released after meeting the bail conditions granted by the court in connection with the corruption case against him.

Shortly after regaining his freedom, Fani-Kayode took to social media to celebrate his reunion with his young son, Aragon.

He wrote:

“Back with my son Aragon after two months in Gulag. I missed him so much. He is my everything.”

It would be recalled that the EFCC had arraigned Fani-Kayode, former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Nenadi Usman, Danjuma Yusuf and Joint Trust Dimensions Nigeria Limited before Justice Hassan in connection with a 17-count charge.

The charges bordered on alleged conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorised by law.

The defendants were accused by the EFCC of allegedly diverting about ₦4.9 billion belonging to the Federal Government for political and personal purposes.

The accused persons had denied the allegations.
