Asubiaro Family Pays Surgical Fees for Two Indigent Children in Memory of Late Mother

The Asubiaro family has continued the philanthropic legacy of their late mother, Mrs. Titilayo Asubiaro, by paying the surgical expenses of two indigent children as part of activities marking her remembrance.

The beneficiaries were Quazeem Ajayi, a two-year-old boy, and Kuburat Oyewole, a 12-year-old girl, whose surgical procedures were sponsored by the Florence Titilayo Asubiaro Foundation.

Mrs. Asubiaro, who died in 2005 at the age of 71, was remembered for her philanthropic efforts and support for indigent people within her community.

Following her death, members of the family established the Florence Titilayo Asubiaro Foundation in 2015 to sustain her values and continue her commitment to supporting people facing financial difficulties, particularly those requiring medical care.

According to the family, the latest intervention was the fourth in the series of medical donations undertaken by the foundation since its establishment in 2015.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Temitope Alonge, commended the Asubiaro family for supporting patients who might otherwise struggle to afford needed medical treatment.

Prof. Alonge also prayed for continued blessings, strength and provision for the family, while appreciating its efforts to keep Mrs. Asubiaro’s philanthropic ideals alive.

The foundation’s spokesperson and daughter of the late Mrs. Asubiaro, Pastor Olawunmi Ogunsan, expressed appreciation to the hospital for providing an avenue through which the family could continue their mother’s legacy.

According to her, supporting people with health challenges was one of the ideals her mother held dear, adding that the family was also involving her grandchildren in the foundation’s activities.

She said the grandchildren were regularly present during the donations so that they could learn the importance of extending help to people in need and continue the tradition as they grew older.

Speaking on behalf of the parents of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ajao thanked the foundation for intervening at a time when the families had struggled to raise money for the children’s surgical treatment.

He said he had not previously known about the foundation and was living in Lagos when he received a call informing him that his son’s surgery would be sponsored.

The Florence Titilayo Asubiaro Foundation had earlier been recognised among organisations honoured during the hospital’s 60th anniversary celebration in November 2017.
