The immediate past president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, is dead.
Mallam Garba Shehu, the ex-president's spokesperson, confirmed this on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
Buhari, according to Shehu, died on Sunday in a hospital in the United Kingdom.
He wrote: "INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIR RAJI'UN.
The family of the former president has announced the passing on of the former president, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, this afternoon in a clinic in London.
May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin."
