The South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has conferred the “Media Icon Award” on the publisher of Street Journal Magazine, Mogaji Wole Arisekola, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to journalism and media development.
The award was presented to Arisekola at the Guild's 9th Anniversary Lecture/Reception on Wednesday, at the prestigious UI's International Conference Centre, Ibadan.
Other eminent personalities honoured at the colorful event included Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Executive Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS); Professor Adeolu Akande, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission ((NCC), amongst others.
Arisekola, represented by Mr. Tunde Ayanda, a Tribune's Society Gist columnist, accepted the award and expressed profound appreciation to SWEGOP for the honour.
SWEGOP noted that Arisekola is deserving of the award for his dedication to journalism profession, spanning decades.
This, the Guild said, underscores Arisekola's passion for the reinforcement of the critical role of the media in the economy, the overall development of Nigeria.
Arisekola, who doubles as the President of the Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON), and the Mogaji Ajenigieye, Oje, Ibadan, is not only visionary leader, he's also a philanthropist.
He stands tall as one of Nigeria’s most influential figures whose legacy continues to expand across media, philanthropy, and traditional leadership.
