In a heartfelt show of support, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, publicly expressed solidarity with longtime friend and business mogul Dr. Deji Adeleke on Thursday.
The revered monarch’s remarks come as the paternity dispute involving Deji’s son, Afro‑beat star David 'Davido' Adeleke, and Ibadan‑based woman Ayo Labinjo resurfaces across media platforms.
Writing on his Facebook page, Oba Abolarin praised Deji’s impact on children, and his humble nature.
He said, "Adedeji Tajudeen Adeleke, my dear friend since 1971, we were school mates at Adventist Grammar School, Ede - where our motto still resonates: BUILDING SOULS FOR SERVICE .
"Though I was a year ahead in school, he's actually a year and a half older than me. I know him like the back of my hand - he's a gem! I've always prayed that his influence and blessings would spread far and wide, and I'm thrilled to see it happening .
"He's got a heart of gold, especially when it comes to children - his own, mine, ours ,(biological and others he affectionately supports), and countless more.
"He's played a huge role in shaping lives, ensuring many young ones thrive. My non-biological kids of ABOLARIN COLLEGE, OKE-ILA ORANGUN are a testament - many owe their successes to his kindness and my other friends, also to other beautiful unknown souls all over the world.
"In Yoruba culture, he'd be called ALADEKOMO - someone who absorbs and totally cares for all children . He's OMONIYI - 'children are wealth'. He lives it, ensuring no child he cares for suffers.
"Honestly, he's more than a friend - he's a brother, mentor, and blessing to many. And he does it all with humility - a private person who doesn't seek the spotlight.
"But he is human after all , he is not perfect, the major reason why he does not joke with his God. Dej, Dej, The Chairman, may your tribe continue to expand in our land. Deji Adeleke, is indeed a great book waiting to be written."
The renewed controversy follows a series of statements from Ayo Labinjo, who claims Davido fathered her child thirteen years ago, and from Deji Adeleke, who has presented multiple DNA test results indicating that Davido is not the biological father.
The Adeleke family has maintained that the evidence should speak for itself and may take legal actions.
