City People Honours Isaac Brown for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcast Journalism

Veteran broadcaster and respected political affairs analyst, Mayor Isaac Brown, has been honoured with the City People Awards for Excellence Special Recognition Award in recognition of his remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s media industry and his enduring influence on radio broadcasting.

Brown received the award on Sunday during the 2026 edition of the prestigious City People Awards for Excellence, where he was celebrated alongside other distinguished personalities who have excelled in their various fields.

A household name in Oyo State’s media landscape, Brown has built a broadcasting career spanning more than two decades, earning widespread respect for his professionalism, fearless journalism and commitment to public-interest broadcasting.

Over the years, he has worked with several prominent media organisations, including Galaxy Television, NTA, MITV/Star FM, Impact Business Radio (IBR) and Fresh FM Ibadan, where he currently remains one of the station’s leading voices.

Popularly known as “The Mayor,” Brown presently anchors the influential political programmes Political Circuit and Crossfire on Fresh FM, platforms that have become reference points for robust discussions on governance, public policy, accountability and democratic development in Oyo State and Nigeria.

Through these programmes, he has consistently provided a balanced platform for government officials, opposition figures, policy experts and citizens to engage on issues affecting society.

Beyond radio, Brown has distinguished himself as the producer and host of the Miss Oyo State Beauty Pageant, while his popular television programme, Gotham City, further cemented his reputation as one of Ibadan’s most recognisable broadcasters.

His ability to seamlessly combine investigative journalism, political analysis and engaging presentation has made him one of the most sought-after media personalities in the South-West.

Observers say the Special Recognition Award reflects Brown’s unwavering dedication to ethical journalism, his courage in asking difficult questions, and his role in shaping public discourse through objective and issue-driven programming.

Colleagues and listeners also credit him with mentoring younger broadcasters and maintaining high professional standards despite the changing dynamics of the media industry.

The award also acknowledges his consistency in using the airwaves to promote informed civic participation, encourage accountability in governance and provide a credible forum for constructive public engagement—qualities that have endeared him to audiences across Oyo State and beyond.

Receiving the honour places Isaac Brown among a select group of media professionals whose careers have left an enduring imprint on Nigeria’s broadcasting industry, further reinforcing his status as one of the country’s most respected and influential radio personalities.
