Eleruwa Confers Chieftaincy Titles on Ayandele, Atanda, Wives in Grand Ceremony


Eruwa, Oyo State, was agog on Thursday as the Eleruwa of Eruwaland, His Royal Majesty Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I, conferred prestigious chieftaincy titles on two distinguished sons of Ibarapaland and their spouses.

Held at the Eleruwa Palace, the colourful ceremony attracted traditional rulers, chiefs, political leaders, community leaders, distinguished guests, families and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate the honourees and the enduring values of the Yoruba traditional institution.
Among the top dignitaries at the iconic event were the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi alongside other prominent personalities.

Dr. Olusola Ayandele was conferred with the prestigious title of Bobagunwa of Eruwaland, while his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Olufolayimika Ayandele, was honoured as Yeye Bobagunwa of Eruwaland.

Chief Adewale Atanda was also conferred with the title of Otunba of Ibarapa Land, while his wife, Erelu Abimbola Atanda, received the title of Yeye Otunba of Ibarapa Land.
The ceremony formed part of activities marking the first coronation anniversary of the Eleruwa of Eruwaland, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola Ajobo Olurin I.

According to the Eleruwa Palace, the conferment was in recognition of the honourees’ exemplary service, leadership, character and contributions to the advancement of Eruwa and the wider Ibarapa community.

Beyond the colourful traditional rites and celebrations, the occasion underscored the important role of the traditional institution in preserving Yoruba cultural heritage and honouring individuals who have distinguished themselves through service and community development.
The gathering ended on a celebratory note, with guests, families and well-wishers joining the newly installed chiefs in marking the historic occasion at the Eleruwa Palace.
