Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria and a member of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has held a high-level diplomatic engagement with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Her Excellency Amina J. Mohammed, in New York.
Ajimobi paid a courtesy call on Mohammed on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, with discussions focusing on Nigeria’s engagement with the United Nations and the broader multilateral system.
Particular attention was given to Nigeria’s engagement through the Vienna-based United Nations offices and international organisations, as both sides explored ways of further strengthening the country’s role within the international system.
For Ambassador Ajimobi, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on how Nigeria can more effectively advance its interests while contributing meaningfully to global cooperation and multilateral diplomacy.
She described the encounter as a pleasure and expressed her readiness for continued engagement as efforts continue towards building a stronger and more effective multilateral system.
Her engagement with Mohammed also underscores the importance of sustained diplomatic conversations around Nigeria’s interests and its participation in international organisations.
