Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Damilola Oni, has once again stirred conversations online after stepping out in a daring outfit for the premiere of A Mama Deola Wedding Story in Lagos.
Oni’s eye-catching appearance at the star-studded premiere on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, quickly became one of the talking points from an event that had several Nollywood personalities turning up in elaborate wedding-inspired ensembles.
The actress chose a striking white lace creation featuring sheer details, sequins, a plunging neckline and a figure-hugging silhouette, leaving little to the imagination and drawing intense attention to her curvy frame.
While some social media users admired her confidence and willingness to push fashion boundaries, others criticised the outfit, describing it as too revealing and questioning whether it suited the wedding-themed occasion.
Interestingly, Oni appeared unfazed by the divided reactions. Sharing photographs of herself in the outfit on her Facebook page, the actress simply asked her followers: “How I attended the Premiere of A Mama Deola Wedding Story. What do you think about the outfit?”
Her post has since generated a wave of comments, with social media users dissecting everything from the design and level of exposure to the actress’ overall styling.
The latest controversy also fits into a fashion identity that has long surrounded Oni. The actress has never been particularly shy about embracing outfits that accentuate her physique, especially her cleavage and curves.
In a 2021 interview with Nigerian Tribune, Oni openly acknowledged that she enjoys attention and is comfortable wearing what she likes.
Responding to questions about her revealing social media outfits, she said her body is part of her identity and maintained that she would “wear what I want to wear.”
That confidence has remained evident in her public appearances, where the actress frequently opts for glamorous, body-conscious and sometimes provocative fashion choices.
Yet, Oni’s appeal goes beyond her physical appearance. A Yoruba language graduate of the University of Ibadan with a master’s degree in Indigenous Knowledge and Development, she has built a career as an actress and producer, with a particular interest in stories that promote Nigerian culture and history.
Her latest fashion moment came against the backdrop of an elaborate premiere that attracted some of Nollywood’s biggest names, including Toyin Abraham, Osas Ighodaro, Kate Henshaw, Shaffy Bello, Mo Bimpe, Kie Kie and others. Guests embraced the wedding-couture theme with dramatic gowns, veils, pearls and bridal-inspired creations.
The movie, produced by Folagade Banks and directed by Femi Adebayo, is the first feature-length instalment built around the popular Mama Deola character.
It features a notable cast including Omowunmi Dada, Rotimi Salami, Shaffy Bello, Bukky Wright, Erica Nlewedim, Toyin Adegbola, Femi Adebayo and veteran actress Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Mama Rainbow.
For Oni, however, the spotlight appears to have extended beyond the movie itself.
With her latest photos continuing to attract reactions, one thing is clear: whether praised as bold or criticised as excessive, Damilola Oni knows how to command attention—and her Mama Deola premiere outfit has certainly done just that.
