Richmab School, Oluyole, Ibadan, is set to mark its 40th anniversary with a colourful thanksgiving celebration that will bring together alumni, staff, former teachers, parents, pupils and friends of the institution.
The anniversary celebration, scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, will begin with a spectacular car convoy from the school’s old site around Mobil Bus Stop before proceeding through Challenge and returning to the Richmab School premises in Oluyole for the thanksgiving service.
According to the Richmab @ 40 alumni committee, the convoy is designed to take the anniversary celebration beyond the school premises and reconnect the institution with the wider Ibadan community.
It will feature branded vehicles, a DJ truck, skaters distributing Richmab handbills and participants dressed in white or blue.
Traffic control and security arrangements will also be provided to ensure that the procession is conducted safely and orderly.
Beyond celebrating four decades of academic excellence, friendship and shared memories, the alumni said the anniversary is being used as an opportunity to strengthen the visibility and future prospects of Richmab School.
A major objective of the celebration, according to the committee, is to create greater awareness of the school, attract more pupils and deepen its relationship with the surrounding community, while preserving the institution’s legacy for future generations.
The thanksgiving service at the school premises will form the central part of the celebration, with a range of activities planned to give the anniversary a memorable character.
One of the major highlights will be the recognition of teachers who have contributed significantly to the growth of the school and shaped the lives of generations of students.
Long-serving teachers are expected to receive awards in appreciation of their dedication, loyalty, service and impact.
Among those expected to be celebrated are Uncle Sulimon, Uncle Abiodun, Uncle Toyin and Uncle Adeyeye, alongside other teachers who have played important roles in the Richmab story.
The organisers are also planning a professionally coordinated event with adequate seating, decoration, sound facilities, refreshments for about 500 guests and comprehensive documentation of the celebration.
Highlights of the anniversary will subsequently be shared through RichmabTV, allowing members of the Richmab family and the wider public to preserve and relive the memories of the landmark celebration.
For the alumni, Richmab @ 40 is more than an anniversary; it is a gathering intended to celebrate the past, reconnect old relationships and lay a stronger foundation for the school’s future.
The committee has therefore called on alumni, friends, corporate organisations and well-wishers to support the celebration through financial contributions, logistics, professional services, equipment, sponsorship and other forms of assistance.
