Barely weeks after he was honoured by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) as the Pillar of Sports during the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, renowned grassroots sports promoter, Temitope Ademola Obideyi, has transformed the recognition into a far-reaching initiative aimed at reshaping youth development through sports.Obideyi will officially launch the Pillar of Sports Youth Development Foundation on Saturday, August 8, 2026, marking the beginning of a new chapter in grassroots football development, education and community empowerment across Oyo State.
The launch, which will feature a one-day capacity-building seminar for more than 150 football coaches drawn from clubs and academies affiliated with the Oyo State Football Association, underscores the foundation’s commitment to raising the standard of coaching while nurturing the next generation of sporting talents.
Far beyond football, the initiative is designed to produce well-rounded young people by combining athletic excellence with education, leadership and life skills.
Participants at the seminar will receive expert training in refereeing, sports psychology, sports medicine, athlete education and financial literacy—critical areas considered essential for sustainable career development in modern sports.
Another major highlight of the event will be the official unveiling of the jerseys for the Oyo State Under-16 football team ahead of the National Secondary Schools Football Championship, a symbolic step towards strengthening youth representation and pride in the state’s sporting future.
Expected at the ceremony are top government officials, sports administrators, traditional rulers and other stakeholders, reflecting the growing support for initiatives that use sports as a vehicle for social transformation and youth empowerment.

The development comes as a practical validation of the recognition earlier bestowed on Obideyi by the CCII.
